History made relevant.
History Research and Publications
Sound historical research is at the root of nearly all of our projects, from interpretive planning to exhibit development to publications. We meet the Secretary of Interior standards for history.
StEPs Consulting
Is your board supportive and passionate, but uncertain how to prioritize or distracted by the latest issues? The “Standards and Excellence Program for History Organizations“ (StEPs) provides best practices training for history museums. As a StEPs facilitator, we guide your board through the program, assessing current practices, educating on best practices, and outlining plans for improvement.
Interpretive Planning
Interpretation starts with the process of reviewing your historic context, site and collections, visitors, and market. Then we define a compelling interpretive message that will express your site. A thoughtful interpretive plan provides a foundation for everything from programming to exhibits to staffing to building design
Grant Writing and Management
Grants are crucial to support projects and operations, but few small museums can maintain a development staff. We support your goals through professional research, grant writing, and management of your fundraising efforts. From individual, foundation, state, and federal grants — we help you secure the funds you need to achieve your goals.
Exhibit Planning
Successful exhibits transport your visitors. Through exhibit visioning and concepts, we can help you explore what themes, methods, and designs would be successful to tell your story. Exhibit schematics further refine the vision. Our plans are visually inspiring for fundraising support.
Exhibit Development and Production
We provide the technical expertise to develop, produce, and install your exhibit! In collaboration with our specialized partners, we’ll bring the exhibit all the way to installation and opening.
